It is our pleasure to inform you that the International Workshop “The legal aspects of EU agricultural policy and the role of agricultural products in the trade relationship between EU and Moldova” is organized within the project Fostering European Integration of the Republic of Moldova with the specific accent on the agriculture sector nr. 610667-PPE‑1–2019–1‑MDEPPJMO-PROIECT held on September 15th-16th in the State Agrarian University of Moldova.

Participants: The Workshop will bring together (at least 75 participants, incl.5 non-local contributors) representatives of the EU Delegation to Moldova, the representatives of national governmental structures in agrarian, trade relations, forestry, environment, food safety.etc fields, representatives of civil society organizations, business associations, researchers, academia (academic and administrative staff) and students, general public (including mass-media).

Preliminary programme. The Workshop during the two days will address the following topics:
Introductory session: 1) Strategic areas of cooperation between EU and Moldova with focus on agricultural and trade policy, 2) Impact and development of opportunities for Moldova within the EU-Moldova Association Agreement and World Trade Organization; 3) openness of EU market to moldovan agricultural products; 4) the role of agricultural products in the trade relationship between EU and Moldova.
Session 1: EU agricultural policy its mechanisms towards Moldova.
Will be provided a wide overview of the EU agricultural policy, standards, requests, legislative provisions and mechanisms of implementation of the reforms in this field, and, in particular will be discussed the legal aspects regarding the agriculture and rural development stipulated on the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, openness of EU agricultural market, contact details, advice on where to start looking for more detailed information on a particular issues.
Session 2: Legal aspects regarding the EU food safety policy, quality of farming products in comparison with EU-Moldova Association Agreement provisions.
Will be projected and discussed the achievements, obstacles and opportunities for the target groups with special focus on the involvement of the business and civil societies organisations from Moldova
Session 3: two parallel in-depth training workshops on accessing the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD) and legislative provisions regarding the agriculture and rural development stipulated on the EU-Moldova Association Agreement (Chapter 12).
Session 4: two parallel sessions on agriculture & environment and forestry.
Integration of environmental concerns into the Agricultural Policy aims to head the risks of environmental degradation and enhancing the sustainability of agro-ecosystems.
Closing Session: Proposals and Recommendations. The participants will elaborate Proposals and recommendations to national legislators and decision-makers, governmental bodies and agencies in Moldova and to all relevant EU institutions.
In order to address during the Workshop the specific needs of the target groups and stakeholders we will elaborate a questionnaire which we will send by email to them in advance on the basis of which the Final programme will be elaborated, especially regarding two parallel training sessions.
Methodology: The Workshop format will be highly interactive, with expert international keynote speakers (6 non-local contributors), panelists and senior representatives from the EU Delegation to Moldova. With practical interactive sessions it will provide participants the opportunity to try out “on the ground” the lessons learnt from the EUAGRO project. In our pre-Workshop reception, networking breakfast and poster sessions, the event will provide ample opportunities for direct exchange between different stakeholders as well as access to EU and MD policy-makers.
Background materials: Participant will receive working folder with included project’s Leaflet, Brochure ”Understanding of the main issues of EU policies toward Moldova” (for young participants), Guide “Agricultural policy of EU and its mechanisms towards Moldova” (Deliverable 1, 3, 4).
