It is our pleasure to inform you that the Roundtable “EU-Moldova Association Agreement: steps foreseen ” is organized within the project Fostering European Integration of the Republic of Moldova with the specific accent on the agriculture sector nr. 610667-PPE‑1–2019–1‑MDEPPJMO-PROIECT held on 12–13 October 2022 in the State Agrarian University of Moldova.

Participants: The Roundtable will bring together (at least 70 participants, incl.5 non-local contributors) representatives of the EU Delegation to Moldova, European Union and Eastern Partnership member states diplomatic missions, academics, the representatives of governmental structures, independent national and European experts, members of civil society organizations and institutions, civil servants and members of local authorities, European and national legal practitioners (judges, lawyers, law official experts, court interpreters), representatives of employers organizations and trade unions, , SMS academia (academic and administrative staff) and students (B.A, M.A, PhD), general public (including mass-media).

Preliminary programme: During the two working days will be addresses the following main elements:
General Session: will focus on the discussions regarding the EU-Moldova Association Agreement as the opportunity provided by European Neighborhood Policy and, especially, by Eastern Partnership at the multilateral level. In comparison with the European Neighborhood Policy, the Eastern Partnership provided new innovative elements, because it intensified the integration process of Moldova in the European Union economy. This integration was initiated by the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement from 1994 and concretized by the European Neighborhood Policy. As the European Neighborhood Policy, Eastern Partnership relies, in large part, on the resumption of the “acquis communautaire” which is a precondition for the conclusion of the association agreement with the central element such as Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area.
Session 2: will focus on the current state of implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, achievement of the Moldova regarding key points of EU-Moldova Association Agreement issues: 1) present achievements within EU-Moldova Association Agreement 2) steps which needed to undertaken 3) Openness of the EU market via Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) etc.
Session 3:will consider local self-government and academics, researchers, youth, students, civil society participation in decision making process with the focus on four major topics: 1) progress achieved by Moldova within World Trade Organization by signing EU-Moldova Association Agreement; 2) progress achieved by Moldova within EHEA; 3) progress achieved by Moldova within European Research Area; 4) EU trends in the field of education & research.
Session 4:will address a wide range of topics covering Moldovan‘s legislation and practices on standards, requests, legislative provisions, and regarding the trade relations, agriculture and rural development, food security, education, research and innovation etc. stipulated on the EU-Moldova Association Agreement.
Session 5: will provide the participants with the analysis of the institutional mechanisms for the implementation in practice of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement provisions.
Closing Session: Proposals and Recommendations. The participants will elaborate Proposals and recommendations to national legislators and decision-makers, governmental bodies and agencies in Moldova and to all relevant EU institutions and bodies for improving current legal and political situations by formulating some innovative approaches in the frame of international process .
We will add to the agenda specific topics, which will be relevant due time for Moldova. The preparation of the Final programme will be executed in a close collaboration with all stakeholders in Moldova and EU.
Methodology: The Roundtable format will be highly interactive, with expert international keynote speakers (10 non-local contributors), panelists and senior representatives from the EU Delegation to Moldova. With practical interactive sessions it will provide participants the opportunity to try out “on the ground” the lessons learnt from the EUAGRO project. In our pre-event reception, networking breakfast and poster sessions, the event will provide ample opportunities for direct exchange between different stakeholders as well as access to EU and MD policy-makers.
Background materials: Participant will receive working folder with included project’s Leaflet, Brochure ”Understanding of the main issues of EU policies toward Moldova” (for young participants), Guide “Agricultural policy of EU and its mechanisms towards Moldova” (Deliverable 1, 3, 4).
